Divorce Recovery Seminar (7:30pm) - "Family Systems"
One of the essential steps in recovery from the effects of divorce is,
understanding what happened. We all grew up in a family of origin
where we experienced certain types of family togetherness and
differing roles and rules. Our tendency is to recreate these
in our marriages. Since most couples didn’t have identical
family systems, this becomes a subtle, unconscious battleground.

Divorce Recovery Seminar (7:30pm) - "Differences Between Men and Women"
In our culture we stereotype males and females, and then ignore
fundamental differences. Anthropologist Deborah Tannen refers to
conversation between the sexes as “cross cultural
communication.” Women define intimacy as sharing deep
personal feelings with one you trust; while men perceive it as spending
quality time with someone special. These two sides of the
intimacy coin can cause confusion in a relationship. Understand
the opposite sex by uncovering some of these differences. |

A major cause of divorce is differing values. There are four
value systems--ways to orient one’s self relative to
others. Each system has its own way of organizing thoughts and
perspectives. Gain insight into how this contributed to the
conflicts in your marriage. By understanding the past, you can
become better equipped to meet challenges of future
relationships. You can turn the trauma of divorce into an
opportunity for personal growth!

Divorce Recovery Seminar (7:30pm) - "Breaking Your Addiction to a Relationship"
Our culture doesn’t seem to know the difference between love and
addiction. Love songs speak of needing another and not being able
to live without that person. These are words of dependence and
addiction, not expressions of a healthy love relationship. Such
addiction to a loved one increases the devastation of divorce.
Once we recognize our addiction, we need to learn practically how to
break it off and establish a healthy relationship. |

Divorce Recovery Seminar (7:30pm) - "Dealing with Depression"
Any significant loss results in deep sadness or depression. The
length and severity depend on how we cope with the situation.
While unpleasant, it is important to understand that depression is a
natural part of the grieving and recovery process associated with
separation and divorce. In this seminar, we will discuss the
nature of depression and how to effectively deal with it.

Divorce Recovery Seminar (7:30pm) - "Understanding Yourself"
The crisis of divorce leaves us with questions about ourselves and
others. The recovery process should lead us to greater
insight. In this seminar, we will examine four major
personality types. This should provide some
understanding about why some personalities clash, while
others get along easily. Opposites often attract, but usually
find necessary adjustments difficult to make in a marriage.
Learn how to put your past relationship into perspective and equip
yourself for better relationships in the future. |

Divorce Recovery Seminar (7:30pm) - "Forgiving, the Final Step"
Forgiving is the last stage in accepting the end of a marriage.
Some try to move too quickly to this position to avoid real
grieving. Others believe they can punish or control their
ex-spouse by refusing to forgive them. The truth is that
forgiving sets you free from an unhealthy connection to a dead
relationship. Gain an understanding of healthy forgiveness along
with practical ideas about how to achieve it in your life.
